BESS performance guarantees and warranties are packed with critical metrics: from availability, round-trip efficiency (RTE), and equivalent full cycles (EFC) to State of Health (SoH) and operating conditions like temperature. Tracking these metrics accurately and mapping them to your contract terms is a challenge in itself, and when a breach does occur, you also need to catch it quickly, trace the root cause, and pull together documentation your integrator or supplier can act on.

The TWAICE Warranty & Guarantee Tracker is built to cover all of this. You can:

- **Customize your warranty dashboard** to monitor the metrics that matter to you
- **Configure each metric individually** - choosing different aggregations, for example to accurately reflect the conditions in your contract
- **Define thresholds and identify warranty breaches automatically**, with full visibility into where and when they occurred, so you can investigate the root cause yourself or loop in your Customer Success Manager
- **Access a complete audit trail** of contract breaches by KPI, ready to hand to your integrator or supplier for reporting and dispute resolution - some customers have also used TWAICE Energy Analytics screenshots directly with their suppliers to document breaches

### How does the Warranty & Guarantee Tracker work?

### Configure KPI graphs

- Click on "Configure KPI graphs" in the top right-hand corner.
- You can choose which KPIs you want to monitor on your dashboard.
- You can select from a list of multiple KPIs, including SoH, Availability, Round-Trip Efficiency, EFC, Temperature, C-rate, and more.
- On top, you have options which allow you to flexibly configure the KPIs in more detail:

    - Operational status (charging, discharging, operation or resting),
    - Aggregation method (min, mean, max or sum),
    - Aggregation window (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, indefinite), and
    - Aggregation window reference (calendar, COD, custom date).
- As a last step, you can define threshold conditions against which the KPIs are constantly evaluated.

This video will help you setting up your first KPIs:

Please reach out to your Customer Success manager for assistance with setting it up.

### Switch between System and String View

Once you've selected the KPIs to monitor, they’ll appear on the **Warranty & Guarantee Dashboard**. By default, KPIs are shown at the **system level**, but switching to the **Detailed String View** opens a **boxplot** to help spot outliers easily.

Each box represents the distribution of values for a given day:

- **Middle line**: Median value
- **Box edges**: 25th (Q1) and 75th (Q3) percentiles
- **Whiskers**: Typical value range
- **Dots**: Outliers

**Example (Apr 29, 2024):**

- Most strings had a Min SoH between **86.29%** and **91.76%**
- **Median**: 89.56%, **Max**: 98.72%
- One string dropped to **17.3%**, clearly an outlier

This view helps quickly identify strings that may need attention.

### Downloading KPI Data

You can download KPI data either for a single graph or across multiple storages, depending on your needs.

**Download a Single KPI**

To export data or an image from an individual KPI graph:

1. Navigate to the desired KPI graph.
2. Click the **download icon** in the top right corner of the graph.
3. Choose one of the following options:

     - **Export to PNG** → downloads the graph as an image.
     - **Export to CSV** → downloads the underlying data.

**Note:**
The structure of the CSV file depends on your selected view:

- **System view** → data is aggregated at system level.
- **String view** → data is provided at string level.

**Download Multiple KPIs**

To export KPI data across multiple storages at once:

1. Click **Download KPI Data** in the top right of the page.
2. In the panel that opens:

     - Select one or more **storages** (or use **Select all**).
3. Click **Download CSV**.

This will generate a single CSV file containing KPI data for all selected storages within the chosen time range.

**Tip:**
Use this option when you want to analyze or compare performance across multiple systems in one dataset.

### How operation classification works

At query time, selecting "Operation mode" pulls in every 5-minute window that was tagged `charging`, `discharging`, or `mixed_operation`. It explicitly **excludes resting/idle** windows.

| **Filter value** | **What it includes** |
| --- | --- |
| Charging | windows classified charging only |
| Discharging | windows classified discharging only |
| Operating | windows classified charging or discharging or mixed\_operation — anything that isn't resting |
| Resting | windows classified resting only |
| No Operation Filter | all windows, no restriction |

**How a 5-minute window gets its underlying label**

1. **Signal:** current (for battery strings) or power (for AC combiners) is sampled and grouped into 5-minute windows.
2. **Idle check first:** the average magnitude (mean of the absolute value) of the signal in that window is compared to a threshold equal to **1% of the component's rated capacity** (Ah for strings, Wh-equivalent for AC combiners). If it's below that, the window is **Resting** — this is the idle case, and it's checked before anything else.
3. **Direction check (only if not resting):** the sign of each sample says whether it was charging (positive) or discharging (negative). If **80% or more** of the samples in the window agree on one direction, the window gets that label — `charging` or `discharging`. If it's more mixed than that (roughly split, or flipping direction), it's labeled `mixed_operation`.
